On 25 September 2012 the Child of the Universe social fund held its first Child of the Universe Film Festival
The event took place in one of the leading universities in Russia- Russian State Trade and Economic University whose president opened the Festival. The audience members were represented by students, politicians, social workers, different social fund representatives, famous artists who had a chance to see films about autistic children, children with Down syndrome, children with special needs and to get acquainted with the worlds of those children. The audience also had an opportunity to participate in a panel discussion regarding social and legal issues of integrating children with special needs into our society along with formidable scientists, doctors and politicians.
Here is an overview of the winners:
“Stamp” (“Kleimo”) directed by Olga Arlauskas won the Child and the World award.
The award for the Contribution to the Solution of the Problems of Childhood went to “Leshkina’s mother” (“Leshkina mama”) directed by Denis Bevza.
“Autists” (“Autisti”) directed by Svetlana Gubanova and Roman Vorobiev won the Original Approach to the Topic award.
The prizes were awarded by the main conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra Valery Gergiev.
